There are moments
of our life
that still make me smile
even sigh
and doubt my gut

it is because of those moments
sinking I find
myself
in quickening sand

they say that you shouldn’t struggle
try it sometime.

Pleasure and pain are sometimes interrelated. But I'm not going to try to psychoanalize you Duncan. I have a fear of quicksand(coming from the Tarzan movies),so I watch my step. Loved the poem.

The gut feeling is usually right on, atleast, to me.
I face many the struggle when I do not listen to my gut and have to  go back and show myself where I wronged.
It is like quicksand, the more the struggle, the worse things appear.
Interesting how easy you were able to grasp it in these few, well-charged words.
Great piece!!

I believe it's called "surrendering" and usually happens when a person is falling in love

Something good usually comes out of a struggle. Quicksand scares me though : )
Take care!

Still thinking this is great...but, on the second go round I'm wondering if this has anything to do with having a mud bath?
