waiting and watching
the seconds tick away
one by one they melt together
and pass through the day
and I'm waiting for the train to take me
at the last stop on it's meandering line
the train of love I've never been on
someday it will take me away
but not today
the last one to get there
the last one to know
it's been here and gone
and I'm still holding on
hoping to see the show
knowing it's already left here
the station is empty
it echos the silence
so thick you could never punch through
and it's bearing on me as though nothing else exsists
and the songs of laughter and tears haunt my mind
losing everything I thought I'd find
and gaining the world in return
yet still without the most precious gift
and I sit here on the waystation of loves train
alone
waiting for the ride to return
from the one way track of life
and wondering why I ever left
and where I still might go from here
and the loneliness is unsettling
even my mind ignores my thoughts of humor
and fun
as it has since I departed the train of love
its odd how the people I have met can fade away
still there yet gone
still friends yet not so close
just a faded memory of who I used to be
and where my dreams will be
who can tell
the world I knew as heaven turned to hell
and it's beyond my control these tears I cry
though I swore they would never be seen
and my world is no longer the same
I should be happy at the good news
but my heart has only found the blues
I'm lucky in friends and last in love
no one to talk to and hold at night
the secrets I have will never be shared
the darkness within will never see light
and try as I might these tears will fall
cause the train I want to ride has left me
and it might never come back

Sweet Des!   You know, that train is going to come back for you when you aren't expecting it!  I sure hope you're well, my friend.

This, as always is excellent! The conflict well presented...the ALMOST resolve there fighting the knowledge that you should still be hopeful. I love this. Its good to see you in here.

Your storm of assumption feeds anger I am calm enough to hold inside. Don't pretend to know me if you've never put stretched out your heart with since

Merry Christmas, Santa Claus!  LOL

What do you want for christmas?  Want me to send the Polar Express and pick your ass up and bring you over here to boring old Kansas? *grins*  I'm having a party on New Years if you can make it.  Just send me an email and I'll get you my address. I'll be in California until then, though.  hehehe  Sunny CA.  Wish you were here, bro.

masked - would you believe that I'm on call that night?  I'm not allowed to drink in case a soldier at ft hood dies.  damnit!  my 21st new years is supposed to be spent drunk off my ass, not sober as hell.  and you aren't the only one I'm having to shoot down.  amy invited me up to dallas for her party and I'm going to have to decline that one too.  it sucks.

james & siofra -   thanks.  I appreciate it.
