No Laughter In Her Eyes
~*Marge Tindal*~

There was no laughter in her eyes
the day I met Annie Sunrise
Uneasy with the gaze of her
I cast my look away
Retreating steps in backward stance
away from her stony-eyed glance

Yet she haunted me~

I came to know that Annie Sunrise
had suffered such a loss
as to render her incapable
of dealing with the cost

Taken from the cradled-care
a babe not yet in speak
Raped of all her senses
hideous was her defeat

Drunken pillage-pawn of spawn
left to suffer quite alone
Dragged along for pleasured plunder
years of innocence torn asunder

Rescued far too late to matter
nothing left in brain of scatter
Fury in the eyes that stare
Vacant, yet I wonder
is Annie Sunrise home ?

What love of mine might reach
past the doorway of her mind
and turn on a light that just might
lead Annie Sunrise home ?

And so ...
I walk into her perimeter
sit down and pray she will hear me
when I knock ...

~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~

You have a very powerful way of conveying
the pain of hurts felt.  I feel your
words truly reflected the picture of her
sitting there,  staring through blank eyes.

Sad.....but so well said....
