Silence

There is more than coincidence
To account for the inclusion,
As sound,
In what effectively amounts to silence.
I place my hand against a wall
And feel the warmth where you once leaned.
I listen
As the sea responds
With long, stone breaks
That resonate into the sky
Then slant returns
Wide and separate in the distance.
I walk the cliffs,
Where open mouthed I kiss the wind
That you once breathed.
Nothing.
Only this
Fierce
Absence.

Bob---so much of interest in this.  I have read it three times, and see such a sad seperate, not inclusion.  It touched me, non the less.

Reminded me of the times when I miss someone special...I remember the times she sat next to me on the couch and rubbed my feet...James

Thank you all very much. This was one of those that we write in a rush of emotion to capture ..... something. As such, I questioned it's interest, let alone quality. I'm glad that you all have seen some merit. Bob

Oh, sure, Bob - make the ladies swoon and raised the stakes a notch will ya!  This poem has great similes and imagery.  I really like the way you convey the loss and loneliness.
