With poet's rake
I grasp the handle
Of my gardening tool
Slowly raking the
Garden of my mind
Leaves of every color
Fall upon a sculptured lawn
Seeded many years ago

The turf is thick
It's roots well rooted sod
Mature grass that's withstood
Drought and floods as well

Beneath the trees
It's blades are still tender shoots
Sheltered from the sun
With a gentle touch
I rake them just as well

With poet's rake
I rake the yard
Piling the leaves
Inside my garden cart

Then with a poet's questioning mind
I ask
Just where will I dump the cart?

Great metaphoric use! Love that last line, too!

An intriguing thought~
Enjoyed the ponder~
