~* Butterflies Are Meant To Be Free *~

Someone wrote a poem so well,
their words made me lose some sleep.
The truth in their poetic words,
sunk right in, and I started to weep.

At first I was so angry at them,
as I read the harsh reality in their prose.
I realized they could be talking to me,
and in that horrible truth I froze.

I was so very upset all day by that truth,
it said we cause our own internal pain.
A simple 8-line poem has now ensured,
I won’t live out the rest of my life in vain.

As of today, I’m coming out of hiding,
shedding this cocoon, and give life a try;
I know that even with these first steps,
I won’t make it as a social butterfly!

I'll regret it one day when I am old and lonely,
having avoided people out of fear, he’s right!
If you grow old alone, it’s self-inflicted,
we all need someone to hold at night.

It’s funny how a simple 8-line poem,
can affect how you think and feel,
Well to the writer of it, I say “thank you”!
perhaps now I will get a life that’s real!

Note:  This is just a poem   I do go out honest!
I saw the picture and it made me think of my constant wish
to set all the people that live in solitude
through their own fears,
free like butterflies.

This has a wonderful caring message in it. Maybe it will help someone get on with their life. Great read and I just love the butterfly flying into the light.

I was going to ask you to send me the link to this 8 line poem so I could read it Sharon, and then read your note at the bottom! You've stepped into the shoes of someone in isolation well, and captured their need to explore perfectly, very nicely written!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Well expressed, Sharon with your usual grace and flair! Sometimes you have to feel pain to finally understand yourself to finally heal...

I'm sure that Janet Marie will appreciate this, it's right up her alley!
And, of course, I love that butterfly picture - it's beautiful just like the lady who wrote the poem

Take care,
Melissa~

Butterflies and cocoons - I spent the summer living among them... and I marveled at their beauty - and their free spirits... This is lovely, Sharon...

Thank heaven it's not a personal experience!
To go back into a cocoon is nearly impossible and very painful, emotionally. A delicate read.

Alan ~ Thank you and also for noticing that the butterfly was heading toward the ligth (that was the message).

Kit ~ There was such an 8-line poem, but this poem was "just a poem" off of it.  I will send it to you, as it was well done and could cause a rude awakening in those that wanted to get its message.

Martie ~ You are so right, there is nothing that will move mountains more than a tender word.

Melissa ~ How nice of you to say that, and yes I do know that you must first own your pain before it will set you free.  JM will love this butterfly site I found you bet!

Nan ~ That is why butterflies are the most treasured insect of all, because of their beauty, and uniqueness.

Sunshinemist ~ if one person peeks out, I did my job.  Thank you.

Dee ~ I am glad you heard its message and enjoyed it.

Lady of Shallot ~ Trust me it is possible to retract into a cocoon as many times as you feel you have to for a defense tactic, the hard part is staying out!  Hugs, and thank you.

I would like to save this one, if you don't mind. So, I came back, because I forgot to save it. If you don't want me to save it, just let me know.

Smartchick ~ Well I am honored you would even want one of mine so do as you will with it, thank you.  And you are so right, getting moving and out of isolation is a tough road, but one step at a time gets them there.

Startime ~ Thank you for your kind words as I hunted forever for that picture
