Why does my muse not let me be.
Keeping my heart from roaming free.
Holding me captive in loves memory.

The winds of time pass to fast.
Though memories of you choose to last.
Dreams and visions blend of present and past.

The memory I took with me on that last day.
Leaving, not wanting to go, yet couldn't stay.
The radio's embedding song, the last to play.

Whitney Houston: "I Will Always Love You".
The powerful words bring back memories anew.
Feelings I felt whenever I was with you.

Took my lunch to the park today.
Seeing you there with friends took my breath away.
Almost two years later to the day.

Picturing you there I begin to cry.
Thought I was over you as days have gone by.
What is the reason my muse chooses today, I wonder why.

While driving back to work, radio playing and then,
"I Will Always Love You" plays through to the end.
And I thank and curse my muse for letting me see you one more time again.

Because, I will "Always" Love you, you were my one true friend.

nicely told...
heartbreaking how "I'll always love you" which should be an affirmaton...can seemingly turn into a haunt..

I enjoyed

indeed, I've always wondered why she picks certain days over others. . .

well done. . . and I like the last line as well. . . leaves the memory still there. . .

Gemini~
Very emotive.

Funny how 'our song' sticks around,
becomes a classic ... and stirs us in recall, every time~

Oh my, I do understand and empathize here. That song haunts me too. And memories never will let us be, mostly it is good to keep good memories, but sometimes it hurts too much.
Take care.
