She saw him sitting beneath the kumquat tree
on the bamboo terrace eating his sushi
She sat near the pagoda shy as can be
watching him as she sipped her ginseng tea
dragons breathing fire into the moonlight
shined into her eyes, almond eyes bright
erhu music serenades the night
Chinese lanterns hang in candlelight
bamboo flutes whisper a melody
lotus flowers  blooming on wings of love
he sat quietly reading his fortune cookie
"Your future holds a woman with almond eyes
and pure as the white lotus in her hair
beneath a pagoda in the lotus night air."
