In a corporeal internship...

As I lie on my bed,
Fears and thoughts fill my head...
It was something you said --
Something I cannot forget...
So I need to repeat
What I feel honestly
And I'll show you, my Sweet:
You're the only one for me.

You're the stride in my walk;
You're the pride of my talk;
You're the beat in my heart,
And though we may be apart,
You're the thoughts in my mind;
You're all I'd hoped to find...
Listen to my decree:
You're the only one for me.

One look, and I'm helpless...
One touch, and I'm free...
One thought, and I'm selfless:
You're the only one for me.
One sound, and I'm falling...
One glance, and I see...
One word, and I'm calling...
You're the only one for me.

You're the Truth that I seek
You're my Muse when I speak
You are my lucky streak
You bring joy when I feel bleak
Like a breath of fresh air,
You make me so aware
That there's no mystery:
You're the only one for me.

One look, and I'm helpless...
One touch, and I'm free...
One thought, and I'm selfless:
You're the only one for me.
One sound, and I'm falling...
One glance, and I see...
One word, and I'm calling...
You're the only one for me.

Thanks, Daniel.  Love is the meaning of life.

Alas, Logan...  always alas...  Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sue, thanks for your words.  Inspiration paints its own picture.

Yanno, this is excellent for a greeting card, seriously!  There must be some place you can submit this like Blue Mountain Cards and get it on a card?  I loved it, and it certainly would get the message across loud and clear!

Funny you mention that, Mysteria -- the thought crossed my mind, in the past, to see what it would take to write for Hallmark and such, but apparently they require one to be staff only and actually reside in their state (Michigan or something like that), and I'm not ready to leave CA!  But thank you for the compliment...  maybe it'll find its way onto someone's "virtual e-mail card", and I'll be truly honored, so long as my name and copyright notice remain in tact with the poem...  In any case, thank you kindly for reading and responding.

Mark, the only one, and yet, there is another, waiting in the shadow somewhere.
This is so full of love, why is there always an "alas"?

Mark, did you ever think about lyric writing because this flowed sooooooo smooth...

Lovely expression and I really enjoyed the read...

Yes, Sandra:  why is there always an "alas"?  The thing that gets me is that they're all "waiting in the shadows"...  Why not the "Light", for a change??

Paula, if you ask me, the "meaning of life" IS love, and any experience derived from it, in a positive manner, is a good thing.  It's a personal choice regarding timing and readiness to "let go" or when to "move on",
but I hear you.  Thanks for the read and reply.

Thank you, Virginia...  I like to think so and strive for it...

CocoBaci, thank you very much.  Actually, these are lyrics for a ballad "countryish"-sounding song.  For me, lyrics came before poetry since I am a composer/songwriter/musician first...

Ron, thank you.  Actually, this is a song I wrote for her...  It's ultimately country in style, written for guitar and a solid country voice, but for now, I recorded it in an Enya-style, purely ambient keyboards (quite a contrast, I know, but it works both ways).

Connie:  A sweet smile to you...  I guess she was, "For A Brief Infinity", as I feel I was too...
