Things Unexpected

I wish I were a diamond
but I’m more a lump of coal
and you so like roses
I have more a daisies soul
but in my common garden
I’ll bloom and bloom again
with no thorns to pierce you
deep running roots to remain
the future brings things unexpected
and coal can warm you in the coldest time
and if you hold it oh so tight
a diamond you just might find

Well, Helen, you've wowed me yet again with your writing   You always seem to capture so much in few words! I love this, and of course, it's going right into my library.  Heck, can I borrow this as my motto?!    Seriously, this would make a great Hallmark card, it's a refreshingly honest and wonderful message~

"with no thorns to pierce you

I know what it's like to be left bleeding - this is a beautiful promise!   I like this poem very much.

Exellent use of metaphore. Nicely done and wonderful message. Beautiful common things are uncommonly beautiful. Gimme a Daisy any day!
