~* No Destination Called *~
A Walk To Shannon Falls

I whistled on the mountain path,
no destination called.
Behind me was Shannon Falls,
in front a meadow sprawled.
Spring flowers posed
in sunlight along the meadow's floor,
Scented with new grass growing,
a smell I do adore.

In rustle were newborn leaves,
a meditative sound,
A rush of inspiration called
and wrapped itself around.
Rushing thought of nature’s wonders,
and the beauty of outdoors,
Everyone should take a moment,
and put away their chores.

I lay upon the water’s bank,
and watched the mountain spring,
And waited for a lullaby,
a wild canary wished to sing.
I sat alone and thought about
how easily hours slip away,
And we never take the time
to notice the gentle quiet in a day.

I made a mental note
to remember this moment long after I go,
The simple sound of silence
and the softness of ferns that grow.
For if life keeps me hurried
and I fail to give it proper time,
At last I'll have this moment always,
forever in my mind.

I have two poet friends coming to stay with me later this month, and a few stopping in on holidays, so this is to show them to show the beauty surrounding me within walking distance or a very short ride.
This is a picture I took today while walking at Shannon Falls.

Lucky they, and luckier still you who gets to enjoy such visage at will. Ah to savor such mountain peace and release the stress of commerce. Enjoyed (as much as is possible from here).

Richard - One day you will have to see all this for yourself!  It is truly beautiful here.  I was sitting on a rock and the only sound was a bunch of wild canaries flitting around, and the noise in the background from the falls.

Maeve - I bought two new cameras so unfortunately you all are going to really be suffering!  lol, glad you enjoyed this.

Janet Marie - This is not one day that goes by that I thank God for this (pssst, check your email), sent you some pictures.  Thanks for reading.

See the gifts you have? Putting these lovely words to both picture and music is the work of an artist...[now change the one typo and then] send this to any magazine that promotes the beauty of the land, and they are sure to grab it up!

Well done! Darn this was a delight to open and enjoy this Sunday morn!

I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of photograph and poem. I love all things natural and this was grand as well. Reminds me when I was young and visiting the mountains (something I don't get to do much anymore). Your rhyme scheme flowed well and invoked the peacefulness of the scene.

Good work, Mysteria.

It's simply breathtaking, Sharon.  I can't wait until the moment arrives I can breathe it all in for myself...who knows, I may decide to erase Texas from my mental map forever ~*~winks~*~

Andy and Dawn ~ See!  And that is nothing, but the best of the pictures I took that day!  I can't wait to "hug" you two, now that will be my special day!

Sunshine ~ Thanks   opps!  I am glad you enjoyed this, pretty here isn't it?

poetsguild ~ There is nothing - nothing like mountain air!  I have to go there to re-group, and realize that it is my link to nature that really matters nothing more!  Thank you for reading.
