Forgive us

What other reason could be right
For stars to shine throughout the night
Then light for us a Christmas tree
With gifts upon the earth to see

What other reason would God give?
This mother earth to let us live
To grant her children that she love
These gifts of plenty from above

We’ve torn them open laid them bear
And left the waste to foul the air.
We’ve trashed the earth and all within
And even broken through the skin

We’ve multiplied beyond her care
Bent her weary with weight and dare.
Demanded more then she can give.
Beyond her love to let us live

And so I sorrow, shed a tear
Our ignorance and cavalier

There is a new poet among us, who will be glad to see the link to this....

"even having been part of the clean-up, I still find myself part of the mess..."

Well done, Sy!

JM,
So where does a butterfly go
In the eve of what it know.
And what can a butterfly do
To make it all brand new?

All a butterfly can do ...
is let the wind carry her across the ocean blue ...
there she will wish for a healing view ...
pray for the earth to start anew ...
May mankind see the damage they do ...
rethink, rewind, recycle, review, renew.
And when the skies regain their heavenly hue ...
this butterfly will then turn and head straight to you ...
we'll toast Mother Earth with raspberry tea for two ...
and Randy can come fly us to Shangri-La when were thru
