Sun dribbled
Through grey
Clouds and tree
On green water
Pools as paddle
was set.

Rudder or
Back paddle…
Repeat it again…

Each time different
Each time new…

Quietly please…
For the sounds
Of warbler and jay
Mix rightly with
Gurgling stream

Last night
The owls called
And beneath the
Moon dappled diamonds
I heard words

Voices calling me.
Back to water’s edge
And stories told
In undercurrents.
