Kathryn's Song

From behind grateful eyes I speak the words
Of how a lonely heart was all I had known
Until my walk with Kathryn through this hurtful world
Became my light and strength that I called home...

As pure as a gentle rain was her awesome heart
And, to unfolded arms I quickly ran
Without a doubt I found I was truly somebody
For it was Kathryn's song that made me who I am...

I learned all skies can be blue if you make them blue
And, the sun can shine forever if you'd like
That I can make anything and everything I wanted it to be
And, carry anyone I desired with me long through the night...

Oh, I have been to places I never knew could exist
Only my walk with Kathryn could take me there
For I believed all beauty was what you created inside
And, at one time her and I traveled everywhere...

Together we stood on mountains as high as the sky
And, we shared waters of turquoise at sea
We layed beneath raindrops of gold and danced on the moon
And, once rode the rainbows as far as the eyes could see...

Kathryn's song soon became the melody of good-bye
And, never has the rain ever hurt this much
Kathryn's shadow still follows this weak soul through the world
And, now everything and anything is never enough...

I stand against nothing as I am nothing inside
I just look back at the silver sands I can no longer touch
I see the footprints of her behind me fading so fast
But, Kathryn's song still plays in my mind so much...

From behind swollen eyes I still ask why it's this way
And, who's listening to Kathryn's song tonight
Will she ever find it in herself to take me along once again
Or will I always keep waiting behind crying eyes...

Everything I valued to be true just walked all over me
It's a heartache I keep asking Dear God to take
But, if I should never walk with my sweet Kathryn once more
Then, Dear God, I pray, don't let me wake...

Sauni

Have you ever known the color grey when the nighttime finds you weak
I have, I've walked that road each time; that's where my angel sleeps

Shivers and tears...what a beautiful mastery of words and emotion.

Let my words fall first upon deaf ears before a closed mind...

This was absolutely fabulous, read it twice.  The emotions in this poem were outstandingly clear, and heartfelt.  I do so hope you hear Kathryn's song once more.

This poem made me think of the message in the story "The Little Prince"... Each memory gives us something that we take with us forever. I loved this poem very much.

I can't control
my destiny
I trust my soul,
my only goal
is just to "be"

Ahhh, Saunni, what a wonderful heartfelt line of memories and said so well.  From the old man that I am, I will tell you true, that all of life is our pleasant memories, let the hurts fade, for each day brings forth other steps on our pathway, and hopefully your friend will be down that path, or another that makes your heart sing...gentle smile
