House Hunting

Two places to live
Just two people
Kids grown and gone
Why

All day Saturday
Nine to five
Nine houses
East side west side
All around the town
Was it an accident
The best was last

No furniture to cloud
The place spotless
Window view delightful
Sunlight slanting
Garden flowers glorious

We thought we’d be through
Early
Swim gear, towels and a blanket
Thrown in the back seat

And there we were
Arms about one another
Looking out the bedroom window
The wooded valley below
Ablaze with color

Then a “Honey I think we’ve found it” kiss
We got carried away…
Four knees wobbly
You tried – back to be
To resume cool – look out again
I was more for giving in
Took your hands with mine
Raised tem to the window frame
As I poured kisses on your neck
Then your ears and you gave in

But as I released your hands you ran
For the next few minutes
Laughter bounced off the walls
Until we fell
In the deeply carpeted living room
And hands helped hands
The kissing very serious
And we gave thanks
All the curtains drawn

Later, showered and dry
Cuddled under the blanket
Still giggling over new discoveries
I found my only regret
We hadn’t maximized
The other eight houses…

The first duty of love is to listen.

Wilfred, I have only lived in 2 houses since we got married and I see now that I missed out on a lot of fun!  Maybe next year?  Loved this and super mind-pictures.  ME

Now that's the way to house hunt! Done with such taste, as only you could do!

I was flipping channels - and saw a brief scene - in an otherwise uninteresting movie - and a simple narritive developed - I'm glad I struck a responsive chord ~ thank you
