Evenin’ Out West
Virginia Salter

Cowboy hats
baseball caps
bicycle built for two
rockin’ songs
sing along
fun t’be here with you

black top pavement
in a hundred-horse town
people sittin’, chattin’,
tappin’ toes, romancin’
listenin’ to music goin’ down

Ol’ dogs, young dogs
dads, moms, chilluns
sippin’ sodas
lickin’ ice cream cones

evenin’ settles in
moist air
accounts the gentle breeze
as day crawls into horizon's bed
pulls pink cirrus over its head
and bids all, “Good night.”

All your words thrill me!  I'm so happy you stopped in and enjoyed what I left here for your reading.  It was a fun evening last summer, street entertainment called, "Friday Night Alive" in Pendleton, Oregon, home of the Pendleton Round-Up and the Pendleton Woolen Mills.  I don't live there, but visit the town quite often.
