Some days I'm glad that I'm alive
And then I think, "I will survive!"
On many other days I don't
Revoke the past I can't or won't
I am scarred by a fateful past
I hope this suffering will not last

Some days I think depression's done
I'll live again enjoy the sun
Then memories I can't reveal
Will tear my spirit will not heal
Until I'm mad with grief
And look for ways to find relief

Some days I think though life's not fair
I have conquered my despair
Then I remember untold pain
Being his plaything once again
A victim then; am I
All I can do is cry and cry

I walk a tightrope throughout time
Everyday the victory's mine
I waver on the fence
Hope for recompense
Survivor/victim on his whim
I rise or fall on thoughts of him

Those of us who refuse to risk and grow get swallowed up by life.  Patty Hansen.

The pain in this is well expressed.. here's hoping it eases soon.. until then write on.

I can relate to the roller coaster that one goes on time to time. Great write.

Thanks Jamie and Xeonox,
it's the first time  I written about a subject this personal to me. So I'm glad you saw something in it worth responding to. *HuGS*

Remember that all pain can be healing, but it takes time and patience. I hope that in time your pain will be healed. Tanks for sharing, great write.

Thanks Brian,
I know this in my head, getting it lower down is the hard part.

Btw Congratulations on your publication in Our Generation Speaks, it's a cool, cool poem, then again I never expected anything less from you!

'I walk a tightrope throughout time

This line seemed to jump out for me, try and see every day as a victory for you. And as Jamie said, write on! Take care!

Thanks Eddie,
I'm taking care of myself, as you can see. As for writing on...do I have a choice, I think not.

I can relate in many many ways to this poetry! What you said is said so very well and reaches many levels. The title drew me in and you expressed so much of what the "survivor" struggles with. I have come to believe..hope..that this survivor part being strong can still never forget all the pain that it takes to get there. This is how it is on good days..on bad days...I feel like no steps have been made. You communicated this very well.

Facing and working through the grief and pain are the hardest, you will get there hon, for no one wants mere memories to rule their life!!
Nice catching up again my friend  *hugs*
