Together They Sing

They've both been burnt it's true,
They've both been let down,
But why is it now a game of odds and evens,
Why continue with the frowns?

They are working to overcome hurt,
On both sides it's true,
So why continue to hurt her,
Why slash her emotionally through?

She has nightmares at night,
Feels so many losses,
Losses of love, trust and family,
It's enough to make her toss.

One day without grief or pain,
Is NOT too much too ask,
It doesn't take much effort,
Is not an insurmountable task.

She has more enemies than you,
Her soul, lonliness, fear, dejection,
No one to reach out to,
Just wallowing in rejection.

She is a light,
That's TRYING to still shine,
But if he keeps up with the emotional abuse,
The light may go out for all time.

She feels her good will never be enough,
She's alone and nowhere much of the time,
She has put herself last for an eternity,
Amd to top it all off she is past her prime.

Nourish her, nuture her,
Do the manly thing,
And then you can both have what you want,
A life of love together to sing.
