In past lives I was a soldier,
So much hatred and killing,
In this life I lay down my sword,
I pray for peace and end to the blood spilling.

In past lives I was a buddhist,
Devoting my life to Lord Buddah, peace and harmony,
In this life that flame still burns,
I still pray for all humanity.

In past lives I was a writer,
Revered, loved and then betrayed,
In this life the quill is still in hand,
But the thoughts are edited and delayed.

In past lives I was a witch,
Many powers were mine alone,
But the fear of the unknown was too much for that time,
I was drowned after I was beaten with stones.

In past lives I was a spiritual advisor,
To the royalty and elite of Europe,
In this life I merely help spread the word,
And pray that my neck doesn't feel the rope.

So many lifetimes, so many lessons learned,
And I learn more in this life each and every day,
But the lack of understanding and true compassion in this world,
Make this life a sad one within which I play.

We've all been round again or before,
Why do we not heed the lessons learnt long ago?
Why are we petty, selfish and not mindful of the greater good,
People deny the truth and pretend it isn't so.

So, in past lives or this life,
I am true to myself and mine,
To all in my life and world,
Can you say the same, have you taken the time?.....

Whether one believes in religion or not, and whether one believes in rebirth or not, there isn't anyone who doesn't appreciate kindness and compassion

wonderfully done my friend. . . you know that I love it. . .

I really enjoyed reading this. This is a topic I've been very interested, and I even wrote a poem myself on my own past lives. If you'd like to see it it was posted in this forum a few weeks ago called 'the physics of nothingness'.  I think yours flows much better and I really like your ending.

Sven, I knew you'd relate to this one!

JT Thanks for that, I wasn't sure of the ending, but your saying it fits is a compliment.  I'll check out your piece shortly - in fact I thought I had???

Sometimes, it does take a few lifetimes to finally learn the lesson you were detined to face, in order to have a greater compassion for humanity.  This is great writing, Isis.  Your poems always make me think

"In past lives I was a writer,
revered, loved and then betrayed,
in this life the quill is still in hand,
but the thoughts are edited and delayed
========
So, in past lives or this life,
I am true to myself and mine,
to all in my life and the world,
can you say the same, have you taken the time?"

I especially liked those verses - so well expressed!

Take care,
Melissa~

it is a song that rises from a bleeding
wound...or a smiling mouth"

i simply love this. its an idea i've expressed in different ways and i love the way you express it here great work. I myself am an old soul, i have a soul name as they did long ago. i write the poems you see on here plus songs and Fantasy novels. i love the midevil age and believe that how things should still be to a degree so i live as much like it as i can. well keep it up any questions email me.

I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson-

Interesting story here, Lisa. I recently read a book of Slvia Brownes' on past lives and healing,it was wonderful.
I wish I could remember more. And maybe learn something from it, as this life is NOT going so well.
Take care.

The lack of understanding...and compassion.
The denial of truth.
Why is it so hard for so many and so pure for so few?

Excellent analogies to your realities of life. You are a wise yet kindred soul. Pleased to read your soul's transcribings!
