i burnt my tongue on freedom-
when the slaves asked me to lead them.
i crushed my hand between the slabs of right and wrong.

singed my hair in the fire-
smothered my only desire.
Just to please you,i live for you,i'd die for you.

i shred my gold innocence-
on the hard line of existence.
Does that mean a thing to you,as you call me weak?

You couldn't last a minute-
inside my mind,down in it.
You'd have died long ago, doesn't that make me strong?

Perched my sanity up high-
to protect it from all your lies.
Still it fell and shattered, though i remain...right here.

Fere libenter homines id quod volunt credunt~Julius Caesar
