The fortune cookie read
you'll never be nine years.
But I came close to that before,
it was five for me.
I'm finding that i don't have
to actually bleed...
to be killed in another way.
Not outside this time,
inside so no one can
see the scar that just
appeared upon my heart.

All I heard in his voice,
was i'd never be nine years.
But I came close to that before,
It was five for me.
Neither one of us can
polish the other half.
Even though we have both tried.
Reasons to stay
get blurred in the dream.

She whispered in his ears
she'll never be nine years.
But I came close to that before,
It was five for me.
Happiness doesn't
come from years like that.
Maybe because it's an odd number.
Although, I think that next year
the fortune cookie would read
you'll never be ten years.

You sound like you could use a boost.  I hope this isn't for real.  Good work.

You know, usually I go for poetry with a rhyme scheme, but I actually liked this.  This does present a devestating theme emotionally.  I hope that whatever circumstance, you rebound, or have rebounded.

Interesting reading this and wondering what it's all about..I dunno if I were you I'd beware of those fortune cookies...all I could think of was a story I read from the book "China Wakes" by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl Wudunn and I'll quote it exactly...."the wife of a peasant named Zhang Jingui asked a palm reader for advice about how to patch up their disintegrating marriage.  The fortune-teller told Zhang's wife that she should cut off her husband's penis; supposedly it would then grow back , and the couple would again be happy together.
so the woman returned home and plied her husband with liquor.  When he was drunk she pulled out a pair of scissors and cut off his penis.  Zhang nearly died from loss of blood, and his penis never did grow back"....
a true story according to Nicholas....James

I think I'd have to agree with James on this one, steer clear of those fortune cookies!

Wishing you well, I've been there!

this is sad but touching... even though i have no idea what you're talking about, my heartstrings felt more than a tug... may your days be filled with cupcakes and your nights with oatmeal pies (from little debbie -- only 99 cents a box!)

sincerely,
i cried
