Once Upon Antiquity

When I am blind
humanity drips with sugar coated words, kind.
Pretend to be
only as society wishes of me.
what of the true epitome?
I have taken all that I am and all I am to be,
hidden it deep within, away from devouring eyes
that wish to see.
Once upon antiquity
I stood naked, exposing the true me
and found antipathy.
Once again without disgrace
I step forward, face to face
Unwilling to hide within anxiety,
standing proud and naked for all of the world to see.

"Unwilling to hide within anxiety,"

As someone that suffers from occasional depression and anxiety attacks, I say we must never give in to it. Wise words in that one line.

And I lie here in bed all alone- I can't mend
And I fear tomorrow will be okay

I do not think that you cause antipathy... I for one have been moved by your openness.  Your poetry has been added to my library.... excellent work......  Keep 'em coming!

Does the name pavlov ring a bell?

I thank you all for your kind words and am honored that you enjoyed.

Baroni,
You make me blush...I type the words and some times they seem to just flow, not making much sense until I go back and read again...and then at other times I simply think they are no good at all. I am honored to be added to your library...thank you kindly...{I do not know if you go there, but I post in Adult forum too if you would like to read some thing different some time.} In case you would like to know, as well, and maybe would like to venture to read some time...I am also writting a book...am in the middle of chapter 2 now...lol...maybe I do too many things at one time, what do you think?!

Until...ali
