The Titans

Heaven and Earth
entwined among the horizon
to give the gods a new breed
of infamy

these children
as the first apostles of the kingdom
above the sea and below the ground
listened to the whispers

"be good, our children
grow up healthy
and haste not to grow old
or weak

in our pride
we too are worthy

give this Earth your blood
and this Heaven your soul"

in secret rendevue, Father insisted
his children be more than gods
mortalized and full of life
and the breath of death to come
as would mankind

in secret rendevue, Mother insisted
her children bring down the Heavens
servants to her level
deposing Father from the throne
of immortality

as the children grew
a war emerged from the loins
of Father and Son

swallowing the remnants of possibility

others watched from a distance
as mankind emerged victorious
and gods left no mark
but the destruction of mountains
no longer able to reach Heaven so easily

the predecessors did not care
for this betrayal of lawless strength

summoning a prison upon Earth
below the lightning and the sea

the terrible war resembled in the loins
of Mother and Father

and the children
taught to replace their notion
of humanity
