Things never turn out the way you plan,
Hell, we all know it's true,
Some things are just beyond our control,
You cannot fix them, no matter what you do.

How I long for true acceptance,
For others not to be so petty as to judge me,
Nor judge my job, my feelings or my spirituality,
To understand, and just let the acceptance be.

I do what I do to survive,
For some war wounds take eons to heal,
I've embraced the light,
Some of which people condemn and want to steal.

To laugh again and laugh regularly,
To know people's true thoughts of me,
To not have to wade through illness or other foes,
To stand shining in the sun for all to see.

I weaken sure, but I cannot fail,
I lose hope, joys seem to pale,
I question my spirituality and all I believe,
I wonder why at times I'm so frail.

But I'm still here and will always fight,
I look within and the jewel of faith is aglow,
I cherish my love, friends, family and spirit,
These are the treasures to which I cling and the treasures that help my soul grow....

You already have all the most important treasures life can offer. A very good poem, very uplifting spiritually. Thank you very much.
