In the winds of Cherokee song

Ribbon Of You

I awoke to the silent harmonies of dawn
Watching the day creep across the lawn
Soothing rays of warmth spreading light
To the beauty hidden in shelter of night

Chic-a-dees flittering in magnolia trees
Nuthatches dancing in morning breeze
Naked oaks stretching towards the sky
Awakened by the hawks screeching cry

Needles of pines showering in the wind
As shadows of the day slowly descend
Mornings song of promise being sung
Across a sky where billows are strung

Perfumes of love glide across my nose
In the morning breath of scented rose
Fish begin jumping in the valley stream
The rebirth of life is all it would seem

This day would be perfect in it's glow
With God's gifts I have come to know
All unwrapped in this mornings dew
If only it came with the ribbon of you

Mark Christopher

A well wrapped package, poetically, but so much more is in your poetry. You put your heart into every phrase.
This is simply stunning

Mark, This reminds me of one of your other
pieces...both are beautiful, holding
something that belongs to someone we wish
that we could be with helps to make the
dream a little clearer doesn't it...as
always your imagery brings this poem to
life...in full color and form, well done
my friend~

exquisite last verse ...

I awoke to the sounds of sleet-laden rain
Burrowed my head, thought "oh please, not again"
But I dragged my cold aching self to work
(For those bill-collectors can be such jerks!) *S*
I got the bosses settled, snuck over here
And found this poem describing such cheer
I was grumpy with jealousy - then I reached the end...
How well I know that longing, my friend!

Beautiful poem, Mark!
