Encased in hard spun walls Slowly beating heart flutters Scratching sounds from within Struggling to be free Nature pauses in Her work For this process of rebirth Cracks appear and slowly widen Caution abandoned, beauty emerges Pausing in the warm sunlight As if gathering courage One beat, pause, two beats Then in a graceful flurry Borne on the wind Butterfly takes flight Pepper "A poem is the very image of life expressed in its eternal truth."
