           The Old Oak Tree

I'm going to free you.
No, Not with words and tears,
like I did the last time.

This time,
I have witnessed an epiphany
And I know I can't keep you hostage
any longer.

And in time,
you'll know it, too.
And not with words,
only by the abscence of my desires
and my awakening to reality.

So, tell her to tie the yellow ribbon,
...Cause you're going home.

*sigh* you fill your poems with such emotion that I always feel every word. This is wonderful and sad. Much love to you from me.

Hm, I am wondering why he gets to go to her, and what do you get..
Never mind, awesome poem. Packed a bunch, and the little bit from the song was a great idea.

Ethome,
Thanks for the sweet reply. Oddly enough, I was never really thrilled with the Tony Orlando song, but I liked what it symbolized! I'm happy you liked the read.

Passing Shadows,
Freedom is a wonderful thing.  Unfortunately, it comes with a price.  Thanks for replying.

Sandra,
Let's not give Mona any yellow ribbons!  We don't want him to go home. I'm wishing for you someday that you will be his home.  KTDA....
          Love, Elise
