When mornings come and I don't wake to feel your presence there
Or sniff to smell the fragrance of your perfume in the air
When I don't try to wave goodbye as I drive out of view
Or look to see you blow a kiss - then I'll be over you.

When I don't think to tell you of some silly joke I heard
Anticipating how your eyes will smile with every word
When I don't stop to call you just before my day is through
To say how much I love you, girl - then I'll be over you.

Another man will listen to words once reserved for me.
He'll kiss the lips that once propelled me into ecstacy.
I know that, for my sanity, the only thing to do
Is look for some small signs that say I'm finally over you.

So, when the robins lose their voices - when the stars don't shine
When the blood stops pumping through this aching heart of mine
When leaves don't fall in Autumn and June skies do not turn blue
And angels do not wear your face - then I'll be over you.

Balladeer-
you could not have summed me up any better! a truly bleeding piece of work, and i am pretty sure everyone know how it feels. (in case you don't, it sucks) the last stanza says it all.
remarkable. well penned.

I am reminded of the immortal words of Socrates, who said, "I drank what?"

Sad...and reminiscent of feelings altogether familiar.  Truly beautiful and touching as usual for you though. Did I ever say I adore your work?

I dont wish for you to get over me
I made a mistake ... this I now see
How could I leave such devotion behind
this beautiful poem serves to remind
Can you find it in your heart to forgive me
do you think we can rewrite history
Ill be better than I was before
Ill make your heart flutter more
and when you come home at the end of the day
Ill say those words you long to hear me say-
"I'm so glad your home...you KNOW I AM"...
I made you dinner Deer... green eggs and SPAM

Balladeer~
Such softly written thoughts.
I admire the variety in your poetry.
You have the ability to make the reader feel the event ...
that's poetic talent, my friend.
You're loaded with it !

Sigh ... how incredibly beautiful Balladeer. You've taken such sorrowful emotions of loss, and with the closing stanza, were able to make it ever so much more poignant still.

When these eyes can no longer see ...
I will have your poetry read to me ...

Best wishes,

This painted a lovely picture of sadness and happiness at the same time.  Getting over someone is never easy and it's like being left with a fine canvas of memories that shouldn't ever fade.

OMG!!! Ballader.. this is such... this is so.... omg, I'm speechless. This was absolutely beautiful, and that is a COMPLETE UNDERSTATEMENT!!!!!!!!!!  If this was written for a male, it would describe the way I feel perfectly... in fact, even though it's not, it still does!  I am completely overwhelmed by how great this is... still very very speechless (hence, my rambling on).  I wish I could express how this poem makes me feel, because it would flatter you truely!

'deer...
I'm left at a loss of words. Typical when I really like a poem.
I can never find the right words to express how I so much loved someone's post.
So, with that, I'm off.
I love this piece of yours.

Deer,
you don't need me to tell you how good this is, but I'm going to anyway. This is my fifth reading of your wonderful poem, the first four times I was too overcome by emotion to reply, I guess absence really does make the heart grow fonder and not the reverse. It's wonderful writing and it has something that reaches out and grabs me by the heart then gives a little twist, you Sir have a poet's soul (but we already knew that  )
