Couldn't Care Less

Couldn't Care Less went to bed,
A cap of reason on his head,
He found to keep his dreams at bay,
A night cap was the only way,
His night shirt knit from dreamless sleep,
Held guilty secrets in its keep,
He found the shirt insombulant,
The pockets torn, inelegant,
And as he tried in vain to sleep,
A secret slipped from shirt to sheet,
Transformed into a nightmare thing,
Upon his leg began to cling,
Then stealthy, climbed it, up the bed,
Beneath the cap, into his head,
Into his conscience deftly bore,
And Couldn't Care Less was no more.
