What's It All About

She was only 3 when it came to be
just a child eager to play
she endured the pain
in the name of a game

Now it's dark, she is older now
sleep in the closet, it's quiet there
she's only 10...
still can't comprehend

Time has passed that nightmare died
she kept it hid, somewhere inside
ashamed to tell, tears all dried
heavens child now can smile

whats it all about?

its about pain and loss...
about things taken away ...
its about innocence interrupted ...
living with someone elses sins ...
hopefully in time ...
its about healing and acceptance ...
forgivness and understanding ...
flying free ...
this is how i interpretated this
soft spoken poem of questions we ask when
something is to hard to accept ..
sorry if i read it wrong ..
I've asked these same questions
take care

It took me a while to respond to this, I guess that's how you know you got the right feelings across in your poetry, you hit alot of nerves with this and it touched me deeply.  I don't know if this was a personal story of someone you know or one that you were able to write from without seeing it first hand but either way it was a very powerful poem, you did a great job in writing it. I can only echo the response with Janet Marie as to the reasons why.

Even the memories of 3 years old can stay and trouble - they will never leave - but we can rise above them - finding warmth in today's sunshine

~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning.

BloomingRose,

Wow.  It has also taken awhile for me to respond to this poem.  I don't even know what I want to say... It has hit home in a big way and envoked much emotion. I'm speechless....

yes my friend, I do believe that JM nailed it and the loss of innocense can never be replaced but the healing can come.  I truely hope that this is not in any way from your true to life experience.

Janet- It is about pain and loss and somewhere in there about healing too.

Tears of grace- I don't know what I can say to this except the reasons why are inside many.

Wildred- Yes the hope is in today, we can't undo yesterday.

Rose- Thank you for reading and responding I hope more than anything I have shown just a touch of hope and healing.

Mark- I don't quite know what to say. Was that child me? Yes. Any understanding as to why? No. God has a way of healing the wounds even though there can be scars. Healing comes from forgiveness. Heavens child can now smile.
