Creatures  of  Darkness

Step  lightly  now
the  moon's  on  the  rise
The  world  of  the  sun
has  been  hidden ...
from  eyes
~
The  creatures  of  darkness
this  deep  in  the  wood
Slip  forth  from  the  shadows
for  one  taste ...
of  your  blood
~
You  can  not  avoid  them
there  is  no  escape
They're  fast  on  your  scent
start  to  run ...
it's  too  late
~
Wings  beat  ... overhead
with  the  screech  of  an  owl
In  the  distance  a  wolf
answered  close ...
by  a  growl
~
Your  heart  racing  wildly
blood  pounding  in  ear
There's  a  light  up  ahead
now  you  run ...
like  a  deer
~
Full  speed  in  the  moonlight
a  branch  greets  your  head
Toe  catches  a  stump
hit  the  ground ...
just  like  lead
~
All  at  once ... they're  upon  you
it's  useless  to  scream
Blood  sucking  mosquitoes
for  the  itch ...
try  a  cream
~~~
Excellent Rex!!! I loved this eery tale! I had to read it a second time with Vincent Price's voice in my head ... a wonderfully spooky, read ... with a great punchline, and the flow was absolute perfection! (loved the pics too).
Best wishes,
/Kit
