Best Poem

Your words sparked unpatriotically,
the parade advanced slowly,
prancing Tennessee Walkers
with silver sprayed hooves,
riders with Americana smiles.

A procession of old tractors
rolling red and green,
your face drawn and forlorn,
kids catching candy necklaces
crying child with empty hands.

BBQ smoke, dancing on the lawn,
you stood quietly and looked on,
far off, missing someone,
chills crept down my back,
an icy trickle in summer heat.

My boy won a prize, for best poem
on the stage with the others,
his proud mamma bursting,
emotions mixing white and red,
fireworks in my heart.

Corinne~
Awwwwww !  He must take after his mom.
Tell him congratulations from me.

How your chest must swell with pride.
How his little heart must swell with love.
Thank you for sharing .... could we see his poem?
Love ya'

Sure, Marge, my pleasure, of course!  (Big Smile)

The Jackal

A golden, wild happy feeling in life,
you have to go from the bottom
to the top of the ceiling.

The water is taken from a creek,
that supports lives in a weary peak at the future.

It is a battle to stay alive, you might have to take a peak at a bee hive.

One day a deer came up to me, but after a few seconds it decided to flee.

That is how animals act, I hope you can pay attention to that.

Corinne, congrats on your son's talent. I think he'll grow up to write just like his mom!

Corinne, this poem made me smile at the proud mamma watching her son..... although after rereading it, I felt a another message coming through, a sad memory mixed in there too.

Corinne, I felt I was there eavesdropping.  Perhaps you could warm that chill.  Congrats to your son.

Corinne this was so excellent to read...
I loved the small town americana parade
sights, smells, and sounds,
and of course your mothers pride...
but the edges of sadness laced in the poem was what made it for me...
very well written.
A "best poem" for mother and son.
His poem was MOST impressive for his age...
very cool!

I know it's been a long road
To get these towns behind me and I
Will gladly reap what we may sow--
I am there for you ...
and you're there for me ...
Are you waiting for
Heart in hand
Woman and man
See me where I stand I am
Heart
Heart in hand
~vertical horizon~
