The Song of a Flower

The song of a flower may never be heard
It grows sweet and lovely with never a word
And yet in its silence our spirits are stirred

Upon every mountain and valley we plod
Every flower that slowly comes up through the sod
Was carefully sculptured and painted by God

He gave it a perfume to sweeten the air
And made honey nectar for bumble bee’s fare
Then dabbled it’s colorful blooms everywhere

The yellows of daffodil, crimson of rose
The blue of forget-me-not quietly shows
As beautiful blossom so silently grows

The voice of a flower may never be heard
Like twittering sounds of a warbling bird
For it grows sweet and lovely with never a word

Elizabeth Santos

One can almost make out the fragrances and feel the softening textures with your words, Liz...this is so lovely a verse.

How often do we just not listen to the sound of flowers blooming?  I think they do make a sound...a sound like your poetry, Elizabeth.  This is truly beautiful.

Elizabeth~
So pretty.

The blossoms whisper as softly
as the fragile wing of butterfly
that uses the flowers petals as
it's landing pad.

Your 'song' touched me.

Too sweet Lis, love how your perspective...

Every flower that slowly comes up through the sod
Was carefully sculptured and painted by God.

Liz~
I read the title of this one and my first impression was that this was going to be an Easter type poem, like the Cavalry Road one written by Marge. Don't know if you want to go down that road, but I think that it's there, as flowers have religious overtones to them.
Don't get me wrong, the poem is fine as it stands, I like it. (Other than the typo in the third line - should be "our spirits" and not "are" ) but I think that if you want to make it one particular flower, and perhaps followed it's silent journey on one particular day, it might make an interesting piece.
   best regards,
bboog

My dearest Liz,

If flowers could speak they would resight your poetry, this is wonderful.

bboog - are you by any chance a seventy year old college lecturer, or an eighty year old senator?  Just wondering.
