I’m learning to love again...
Cautiously, my heart is opening to another
My mind is more hesitant, though
It remembers my last “love”
More clearly than my heart

My mind screams, “Not so long ago
You thought you loved a man
You worshipped him, and what did he do to you?
He broke you into pieces, heart!
He broke you apart!

And what about this one
Yes, you may know him better
But you are a world apart, literally!
You may have seen into his heart
But you’ve never seen his face!
You’ve only spoken on the ‘net...
And he could be a 35-year-old cross-dresser
For all you know!
You are just crazy, heart!
Plumb crazy!”

But despite the truth in my mind’s words
My heart quietly replies,
“It was mainly you last time, mind
That told me such lies

You told me that you were in love
When you really just liked what you saw
But I, mind...
I know when I speak to this man
Even though I’ve never seen him
There’s something special there...
And even though we are a world apart
Nothing can change that fact”

And the argument rages on
Between my heart and mind...
Day and night, they go on
And my heart always seems to come out on top

What does that mean?

This was great! The emotions are very apparent. Good job as always.

Interesting scenario...to my way of thinking, trusting one's heart is necessary, but yes, one must temper heart and head. Thank you for sharing your inner argument here.

Wow! This is great! So heartfelt
and so truthful.

And, so darn dangerous -- you take care
of that shattered heart my dear.  For
it is very vulnerable right now and apt
to take control over your logical mind.

Lovebug, Your writing just gets better every day and I am enjoying it so much, though I can't always respond
Now, rememeber Passion and Reason who met on the road? Both of them thought they could carry the load. But they discovered they couldn't live without each other.Enough said, Your writing is wonderful!
I'm so proud

I know exactly what you mean.  My mind and heart also argue all day long...especially when it comes to relationships.  Great piece!

Follow your heart but do it with caution , your mind could be right. These are questions that are very difficult to find answers for. So just be careful and remember to have some fun in life.

All my love,
Jeffrey
