I wandered the roads of darkness
turned heart into stone.
I've taken every hit with pride
only to stumble through life alone.
Wakeing to the sound of fighting
beer bottles that hollow the air.
Tis but one prayer I know
one that GOD restrained to bear.
Recaling the days of make believe
to excape the tragedy.
Running from this place called home
to somewhere far and free.
Once I was gone I never looked back
never did I miss the misery.
No loveing arms to hold me tight
noone there takeing care of me.
My pillow soaked in tears
my bedroom door locked with the key
Praying only for that one day..that one day to be free.

This is an extraordinary piece Compirl. It far exceeds the challenge and thank you for helping spread the word.

You are not alone now my friend!  We are all here.  I felt your hurt and anger in this piece.  It is an exceptional poem that I'm sure we all our glad, you contributed to this cause.  Thank you...

this is exceptional and touching...
your honesty and pain moves me.
yes, days of make believe...I understand.
thank you for your very kind reply to me on my poem as well,
take care jm

Well the sun sets gently on your shoulders
And it makes me want to touch you there.
And the light in your eyes makes me feel
Like there's something much better out there
Something kind...
And I know someday I might be looking around
Trying to find some purpose
Well purpose it can't be that hard to find
As long as I've got the wind...
The wind and your love to carry me.

Thank you all for your kind replies. This is a very serious subject and one that I hope we all think of on an ongoing basis. I see my little ones and to think of anything ever happening to them just give me chills.
