Sometimes I cry when I watch movies.
Sometimes they hurt my heart
Sometimes I know they're just acting that way
Sometimes I know its just a part

but when they act like its REALLY them
that's feeling all that pain
or dancing in the rainstorm
part and person seem the same

Sometimes I wonder...am I acting?
Sometimes I debate about my part
Sometimes I think I'm being fooled
Sometimes I think with just my heart

And then I sit and listen
to the sound of just the rain
and I sit and wonder bout the twins
of happiness and pain.

SO....

Sometimes when you're thinking hard
Sometimes when you're caught in the rain
Sometimes stop and pray for me
Sometimes.....just for a change.

We all need a little prayer sometimes.  Sometimes our thoughts run away with us.  I'll say a little prayer for you, Solstice Son.  Joyce

Sweet Sol...I like this one very much.  I too get caught up in movies;  to steal a line from Henry Rollins "...You(I) feel closer to people on movie screens...".  Anyways, enjoyed this one as usual, a writer close to my own heart.

this is true, but it depends so heavily on the actor / actress in question.
(a thought - how did that particular profession get spared the attentions of the PC shocktroops? shouldn't it be act-person?)
anyway.
sometimes, you're absolutely right, a good actor / ess can make you feel it right along with them. (this, of course, being the reason i liked Unbreakable so much, not that it was such a great movie, but Bruce Willis really carried that role off perfectly.)

great poem! i love it when a poem inspires thought, and this certainly did.
bring on the back burner stuff more often!

Dave,

Thanks for the comments AND I agree...'Unbreakable' was fantastic!! One of my favorites for certain.

as for the whole actor/actress thing....there was a bit of a bruhaha a few years back...technically...they ALL want to be called actors....go figure...if I were a woman I would want to be referred to in terms that compliment my feminity...not homogenize me with a bunch of guys..i mean really! *L*

damn......

who wrote all that???

poetry is better than a photograph to remind us where we've been...

even for someone like me who seems to relive everything that has gone by often....

wow

thanks BWA

Enjoyed your poem.

And this was great:

"poetry is better than a photograph to remind us where we've been"

How true!
