Wild Geese Flying

It's evening and cross the sky,
Above the lake, the wild geese fly,
With many honks and haunting calls,
To settle in before night falls.
They float together, grateful for
A place to rest awhile, before,
Continuing their northern jaunt,
To reach their tundra, nesting haunt.

The darkness hides them, but I hear
A muttering come to my ear.
Perhaps they talk of where they've been
And of the miles that lie between
This sojourn on a lake they know
They'll see again, before the snow
Descends to cover everything
With silence, white, until the spring!

Trillium,
It is a lovely write and Karilea is right about. Again, congratulations on 6,000.

junemac:  Thanks for making such nice comments. I'm so glad you enjoyed this. It was lovely to see the geese every evening last week, at the lake.

Oh I love this.  Just imagine flying so high and far.  We have the geese and swan in the winter and then they spread their wings and fly away for the summer.  Love, Joyce

Joyce:  While at the lake last week, we saw geese come in before dark, almost every day we were there and heard them leave the following morning around day break.  I love to hear them!  It is amazing how far they fly to nest in their favorite spot.

Thanks for commenting.

Love
Betty Lou
