Butterfly and Me...Haikus

Summer breezes touch
silken skin resting 'neath clouds
absorbing sun's warmth

garden within sight
eyes view petals opening
butterfly settles

reaching into center
dipping into natures well
thirsting of nectar

parched by the heat
sipping iced liquid, refreshed
butterfly and me

M/M

I am overwhelmed by your welcome...and I hope you can bear with me as I  process the mechanics of this forum...and I promise I will respond often and to as many of your poems as I can...I recognize many poets I have read elsewhere, and know I am in good company...
thank you MA, Melissa, serenity (I write about you often *wink), Janet and Mark for your kind words, and a special thanks to Allan, who invited me to take a peek into your world of passion.

p.s.I happen to love haikus and form and metered poetry, so I hope you never tire of it...
~~soft hugs to you all

thank you, Butterflies_dont_cry

you caught me in the middle of responding to others on here so I am a bit out of sync...yes I love  butterflies and my first poem ever was this one when I was trying to get out of my "funk" that brings so many of us to poetry

Like A Butterfly

I had shut myself off, from the outside world
These last two years.
Never feeling the warmth of a sunrise ...
Never watching the beauty of a sunset ...
Always hoping for a miracle ...
Always wishing for a dream come true ...
Until that day when you appeared
And suddenly,
I felt, as if I could finally break out
Of this protective cocoon ...
Wanting to be free ...
Spreading my wings...
And learning to fly all over again
As if it was for the first time ...
Wanting to experience all the joy
The world has to offer
In the short time that I will be here ...
Before the end comes.

thank you again...butterflies have great meaning to me...
