Yesterday I gave,  and in the giving
Knew all of Life in one short taste
Of ecstasy...that made a flowered glory
Bloom in desert waste!

Today the buds lie sere and brown,
In hopeless drouth expired...
And grief walks 'mid the dead with me
Whose gift was undesired.

What a profound poem!
There is indeed great pleasure in giving, and such desperation in finding that the gift was not wanted.
Wonderful, as usual.

Rex what perception!!  It can be taken as a gift or a curse????  This was wonderful hon, and I must add I too thank you for sharing with us in DP considering you are much more accomplished than most of us here...   Great stuff as always, seems to me the evidence is clear..

I'll tell you this...... No eternal reward will forgive us now for wasting the dawn.....

Thank you all so very much for your kind words.  I greatly appreciate them.  As for being accomplished,  I am very flattered but there are so many good poets posting on this site that I am constantly humbled by their efforts.  Again, thank you very much.

Best Regards to all.

Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.
