I live in a wonderful world.
Cancer has been eradicated,
Along with AIDS and down syndrom.
But I'm sick.
I'm sick because nothing is mine.
There is not an organ on my body that I own.
I will be known only as a patent in the office
Of some large corporation.
I will live on forever,
In a laboratory.
People will aspire to become like me,
To have no worries or fear of death.
Whenever I feel down,
I have the comforting closeness of a computer.
What does everyone else have?
A soul?
What is a soul, but a few molecules?
But there is a void within me that I cannot
Fill.
I don't know what it is, and it is making me sick.
A soul?
No, I don't want one!
I cannot ever have one.
I am cold.
Here upon the shores of human consciousness I sit.
In front of me is the wreck of what was once called
Medicine.
Now it is called a way of life.
It is so cold here.

What was art?
What was music or poetry?
I don't know.  All I know is programmed within
The mind that I do not own,
The mind that was placed into my specially sculpted
Head,
Against my will.
What is me?  I will never know.

Everything is dying.
I am becoming numb.
I can see everyone else growing cold.
They are forgetting that which I will never know.
They are free of their physical ills,
Just like me.

They are becoming free of their souls, and their
Conciences,
Just like me.

The new genesis of the biotech century has begun.
But I can already hear the hooves of the horsemen.
But no one else recognizes them.
Instead they are just singing to the tune of the biotech
Corporations' almighty god,  THE DOLLAR.
They are becoming sick,
Just like me.

We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
Leaning together
Headpiece filled with straw. Alas!
Our dried voices, when
We whisper together
Are

If the footmen tire you, what will the horsemen do???
I like this kind of poetry, reminds me of my childhood when I wanted to write sci-fi.
Good Job.

Thank you for the compliments.  I got the idea from this show I was watching today about the coming biotechnology era.  On the show they were discussing the fact that there's a good chance that companies will actually patent life forms.
