I wrote this for my boyfriend.  He came into my life after I'd been through several abusive relationships.

Butterfly

They all took something from me
And left me a broken, battered butterfly
With just enough to fly
But barely able to lift from the ground

I was deserted in this state of limbo
Dangling, fluttering helplessly
Frantically beating useless wings
Trying so hard, but going nowhere

Trampled, crushed
Enduring further abuse
To this already demolished body
And barely intact spirit

How long was I to be this way?
In the mediocre state of survival
But without the happiness of real living
An existence void of all love and support

Just when I had reached what I thought were final moments
The last few seconds of hope
Of the belief that someone would or could ever love me
I met you, and my spirit was restored

I found that I could not only fly,
But I could soar
In the delicious clouds of love, happiness, and confidence
How can I ever thank you for all that you have done?
I love you.

Hi, this is a beautiful poem, and so expresses that feeling of being beaten down and nearly destroyed by bad realtionships. I am so happy for you that someone good came to your life. I wish it would happen for everyone.
Take care.

Your poem "Butterfly" sent chills through my body.  How lovely it is to learn of two who have found bliss in love's heavenly scent.

May the treasures of your "restored spirit" bring infinite blessings upon those who call out*

I love your poem and know what it feels like to be in that situation and it is wonderful to have someone save you before there is nothing left.
