she'd be tender and kind
to all living things ('specially baby kitties)
she'd have tea (Darjeeling of course)
instead of planning wars
and when the State of the Union
was in major disrepair
she'd take a bubble bath
do her nails and call her Mom
she wouldn't bother with cigars
or secret phone lines (sheesh!)
she'd find a partner for life
in a fat black cuddly cat
(no Kitty Krunching here!)
a bottle of Pinot Gris (Belle Pente!)
a journal and her thesaurus
to keep her through the long
White House evenings
(imagine poetry conceived in Lincoln's room, near a roaring log fire!)
no secret agendas and long memorandums
on her daily grind!
she'd show up on Capitol Hill
in a halter top and jeans
laugh with the Congressmen
and solve three major crisises
all while over-tipping the waiter
and noticing the maid's new shoes
no long boring speeches here
no time for that!
she'd never jog in public (puhleeeeeeeze!)
or ride in a pretentious limousine
(give her a Jag ANY DAY!!)
and when asked the secret of World Peace
she'd smile and simply say two words....

This is Balladeer's girlfriend speaking. You are so right! We definitely need a woman in the Fuschia House!!!! Of course, she would have to have the option of re-finishing the Cabinet at a moment's notice. She would have brought down the Iron curtain decades ago and replaced it with a nice chiffon!...and her top advisor would be the Secretary of Homes and Gardens! I'm with you all the way, miss!!

signed,
my girlfriend

(e)X Angel has quite a platform,
And I like her approach to things,
Knowing an extra pair of shoes
Can make the whole world sing.

As Long John's lifetime running mate,
I'll convince him to drop out,
And leave the running for an Angel,
Who will win the race, no doubt.

Long John here, with y feminine side showing - I know I wasn't supposed to come in here, but I just had to read sweet Lorelei's response.  This is a great poem, Heather - It made me laugh a lot.

'Deer - How is your new business going?  You know, as new owner of the Bates Motel - heh heh

Well all I can say is if everybody is straight, at least there won't be a first lady to put up with...

Somewhere I had heard,
Behind Every Successful Man There was a Woman...

Times have changed:
Away From Every Successful Woman Stays A Man...

Well, I do not know how much of this is true, but I keep my distances from extreme feminists....

but yoohoo Heather, I like the idea...
but why keep the men out of voting here...
That thing alone has brought in all these men including me ...

curiousity... thou hast attacked....

My regards,
sudhir

Dag Nab It ... there goes the neighbourhood
What color's the Whitehouse going to be known as now?
... Lavender-Lane? ...

just funing
I'd vote for a woman
except I'm Canadian

heather, you are sooooo first class! this is purrrrfectly great!!   i was going to suggest painting the white house fuschia, myself....!!!!   it's a grand idea... and i can't wait for a saucer of cream with darjeeling while you drink tea and write poetry in lincoln's bedroom!

the world will surely be at peace
with an angel on the top!
no cat kicker who lies to us --
your reign will make it stop!
the bubble bath will soon become
a national pastime
a kittycat in every home
while all men learn to rhyme!
i'm so elated with this news
it's fur-thest from my mind
the way the country's run today --
my vote for you is signed!

(have you thrown your hat into the ring?)

this is really Lorelei and me thinks I gotta change my password to keep LJA out of my account.  Ya'll know I didn't write that because I don't have a ounce of rhyming in my blood...so it had to come from LJA!!!

Well....I concur that in ways there has been a woman president the last eight years, BUT in reality no woman has ever worn the title. I say it is about time!!!!!!
Besides I think aromatherapy would help during NATO meetings! (no man would think like that eh girls!?)

Eric (LOL) as long as the staff kept enough caffeine and truffles on hand I think Nuclear War could be averted.
