Sitting on our rocky seat
The sea was whispering at our feet
We rolled in sand played in surf
Gave our all for what it’s worth
Counted starfish looked for shells
Skimmed the stones on breaking swells
You teased me that my hair was long
And I recited a Dylan song
I picked up my old guitar
But with jumbled chords
I didn’t get far
But the tune we sang
Was ours to keep
And satisfied we fell asleep

And then when we were dreaming….still
You came to meet me on that hill
We sat there saw a shooting star
Across the sky a lightning scar
You held my hand and then I knew
I had to spend my life with you
I ran my hand through sand strewn hair
Held you close to say I care
The night was clear…. balmy warm
We could conquer any storm
In your eyes I saw the moon
Reflection pools of days in June
Oh to kiss your honey lips
To gently stroke your finger tips
Sparkling shivers in my spine
When we shared that love filled wine

I often dream and I know you do
Of that fine summer when we were two
Free spirits there upon that beach
Nothing then was out of reach
Our dreams were huge….Like
Young dreams are
And when I see a shooting star
My memory is like a film replay
It warms my heart and fills my day
With love so great there is no place
Where it could hide
Without a trace
Perhaps the summer is no more
But I know now..... the dream I saw
Has once and for all…. set me free
And is standing right in front
Of me

I don't know exactly why but this poem reminded me of my girlfriend of long ago Nancy Daughter...we were taking a romantic walk on the beach and a large bouy washed to shore so we rolled it onto the sand and when the sand stuck to it we wrote love letters on the side...I went home very satisfied knowing that in the morning the whole city would know that I Love Nancy...James

Hi John...
I love this one so much......
You just combined my two favorite
        things...romance and the ocean!!
             Beautiful, the way you
                    write....
              (I am now a fan!!)

I have but one goal in
life.........
To make you smile!

"The sea was whispering at our feet"

Jon, I found many engaging lines here, this was just one of them...such a tender way to express your love.
