You made me feel dependent. Weak.
I sank to pleading for each caress.
My spirit, once the best part of me,
I subdued because you thought it best.

You blew through my life in a blast,
Thoughtlessly sweeping aside my dreams.
Eroding my strength, the love I had,
Consuming them both to suit your means.

The deepness of my relief states,
Joy found me when you slipped your hold.
My new feelings of worth obviate,
Old memories of remorse and cold.

The past is gone, the present aches,
My future lies ahead unclear.
Your are the wind. That was my mistake,
But now you're gone. I'm free. I'm here.

The wind comes, affects us, and then is gone.

I wanted to say to all the people in here who are hurting... this time will pass, and "the wind" you've felt will be gone in its own time.  What remains, what is truly important, is that you will be standing, free of oppression and depression, and you will be so much better because you will no longer be asked to subdue your spirit, squander your strength or your love, suspend your dreams, or plead for the caress grudging granted.  You are truly free, but you may not be able to revel in it... now.  But in time, you will.  That is the promise of the future.

Oh, this is so real......the wind touches us and then is gone.  My winds of late seem to be more like tornadoes!!!!! Ah, but that's life!!!!!
                  Great writing as usual!!!!

LngJhn, Well said. I'm sure it will be helpful to many to know they're not alone and the pain does pass.

Ahhhh, sailor... You gave this gal smiles... inappropriate as they were for the poem. *G* My warped sense of humor had a field day with the title while I waited for my dinosaur to let me see the poem. LOL (Just be glad Toe isn't around to ask you about that wind! LOL)

As for the poem... it is excellent... a promise from a caring heart. *S*

LngJhn I had to come back and read this once again N upon exiting I flipped down the page quickly and read the response you have shared...

Of all sentiment expressed in life the one you've penned well just brought tears to my eyes...

As a wish for time to breeze on by is cast unto the stars each nite I needed to read such words so wise...

Regards,
Dani

Everytime I think it's safe to venture into the water of your poetry you write someting like this that swamps my emotions and drowns my senses, I have no words, but thank you for posting this.
