Goodnight

I kept the champagne
on ice
as I served Cordon Bleu
over rice.

I thought you'd arrive
we'd dine
then to the dance
we'd drive.

My plans never happened
as I sat here
sipping champagne longing
for a friend.

I bid you goodnight
and sweet dreams
as I drift off to where
everything's Bright.

This is so beautiful and sad at the same time! Very well done!

WOW...again, I am stunned at the essential and simple beauty of pure sadness.
Thanks for the great read.
