5-7-5-7-7 x 4

Thinking beyond thought,
the being of non-being,
nothing, yet all things,
certainty without reason,
and vision beyond seeing.
A time without end,
when all exists for all time,
until time stands still,
both infinite and finite;
no way in, and no way out.
Quite a paradox,
this thing called infinity;
an end without end,
from here to eternity,
and back to the beginning.
An endless journey
from which there is no return;
for, there is no end,
and there is no beginning,
but only, the becoming.

Munda -- Thanks, glad you liked it, but don't rack your brain on it. It's one of those things that has no answer.

Denise -- Tanka...I mean, Danka.

Gene,
  My head is still spinning ,trying to put some sense of direction to what I've just read, but direction has opted for indirection. Oh well, LOL Very interesting piece indeed! Dennis :^)

Dennis -- Thanks, this is the philosopher in me coming out. I hope that in my attempt to be introspective, I didn't make it seem like gibberish. It really does have direction (see below).

Lizzie -- Thanks. Tanka can be combined to create poems of hundreds of lines.

-----
Here's my explanation (interpretation) of this poem:

Thinking beyond thought – Omnipotent thought

the being of non-being
nothing, yet all things
– The yin and yang of the universe. Existence, beyond the physical, life is an illusion.  "The universe would neither be created nor destroyed. It would just BE."

certainty without reason – Faith

and vision beyond seeing – Enlightenment

A time without end
when all exists for all time
– Time will continue forever

until time stands still – But time is relative. According to the Law of Thermodynamics, time is in continual forward motion, but on the other hand, time is a human concept, so it doesn’t really exist in the universe outside of our comprehension.

both infinite and finite – Ancient Zen philosophers said that the universe is both infinite and finite. How can that be?  In the last 50 years, theories of the universe have swayed between being either infinite or finite. Only recently, modern cosmologists have begun to agree with the ancients—that it may be both—that the universe has a definite beginning and end; and that the universe is a closed system without beginning nor end.

no way in, and no way out – There is no way to leave, even when we die, our atoms remain in the universe. There is no way into the universe—we were always here—"we are the stuff stars are made of."  Yet, there are particles and antiparticles in the universe that simply appear and disappear with no explanation.

Quite a paradox,
this thing called infinity
– Well, isn’t it?

an end without end – How can it be called an end if it has no end?

from here to eternity,
and back to the beginning
– How can you start over from eternity? Yet according to Stephen Hawking, if you could travel far enough and long enough in a straight line, you would wind up where you started.

An endless journey
from which there is no return;
for, there is no end,
and there is no beginning,
but only, the becoming
– An endless loop that has no start nor end (Mobius Loop), we are always in the state of progressing—even if it’s in the opposite direction.

Breath-taking, thought provoking, beautiful, and did I say, WOW!

 MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND
