I slept with a stranger just last night,
and, believe it or not, there was no worry or fright.

Separate beds and worlds apart,
still he was there to comfort my heart.

Both of us under the same big sky,
as the hours of the night slipped gently by.

I slept with a quiet and peaceful calm,
knowing he intended to keep me from harm.

He promised me that he would be there,
in my sadness and fear, to stroke my hair.

Yes, I slept with a stranger just last night,
and, for the first time in ages, my world was right.

This is really nice Freckles.

Seperate beds and worlds apart,
still he was there to comfort my heart.

What a warm, loving feeling your poem leaves one with.

In the words of Freckles 'WOW' Did someone turn the heat up in here?'

May your roof never fall in and those beneath it never fall out.

Thank you all for reading and responding so kindly; I probably would have done well to have kept this one in the private vault, though.     I'm afraid I have everybody thinking the wrong thing.....

Jack---Thank you for the kind words, though I fear you read more into this than is there.

childomine---Thank you.  I can identify with the warm, loving feeling of which you speak; it's the same one I was left with that night.

JTC---Thank you for reading and responding.  Nothing TOO hot here; a wonderful and innocent sleep with a very kind person.

Gene---Thank you for the kind words.  Now, a lady doesn't "sleep" and tell......    As I told Jack, I fear you may have read more into this than is there.

Jon---Thank you very much.

Alicia---Thank you; the two words you said spoke volumes.

Sheila---Thank you so much for the kind words.  As I told childomine, I can identify with the nice feelings; they are what I experienced.  I'm just glad I was able to convey that in my writing.

I'm feeling warm and content just from reading your poem and some happy thoughts it brings up.  So very touching and beautiful.  Thankyou.

MAY THE ROAD RISE TO MEET YOU,
MAY THE WIND BE ALWAYS AT YOUR BACK
MAY THE SUN SHINE UPON YOUR FACE
THE RAINS FALL SOFT UPON YOUR FIELDS
AND, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN,
MAY GOD HOLD YOU IN THE PALM OF HIS HAND
