          A SHORT BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY

As the sun crept over the horizon, he reached over and softly touched her face,
No words were, or needed to be said, a life time of love was already in place.
These two souls had been traveling lifes road together, for now almost forty two years,
As the highway rushed by this day, memories came to him in a flood, like a childs tears.

The way they loved each other, at times soft, warm, like a babies breath,
At other times, there in the night, intense, so strong at times , it scared him half to death.
The passion that was like a fire in their youth, now had a softer, steady glow,
But the light in their eys, it was like the sun, they needed only a glance, to know.

These many years had indeed taken it's toll, life is that way, it's as it should be,
But with the passing of time, there were many things, they would more clearly see.
How he loved this lady, her softness hid the strength, that lived within
Oh she had fire aplenty, more than once it was directed at him.

The kind things she did for him, he knew was for the love she had for her man,
They were done with care, thoughtfulness, as only a woman can.
I am aware I don't deserve such as her, but I thank God she is mine,
If only it was forever, one life, is such a short time.

'If only it was forever, one life, is such a short time.'
I think in this case, It will be forever, beyond the restrictions of life. Thank you, I was moved.

Bill you were hiding the "softer" side.  This is so beautifully romantic.  What a wonderful poem of love for your love.  You did a very good job on this one and as usual, one can tell it's coming from the heart.
