This is it....the reader of the cup is like your mystic woman...we have this superstition about the coffee cup that it can tell your future. There's the english translation and the english phonetic...it sounds much better in arabic, but i didn't translate this so....good luck!!

English Translation

She sat.
She sat with a fearful look on her face and
Examined the overturned coffee cup.

She said, my son, don't grieve.
She said, my son, don't grieve.

For love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.

She sat.
She sat with a fearful look on her face and
Examined the overturned tea cup.

She said, my son, don't grieve.
She said, my son, don't grieve.

For love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.

She sat.
She sat with a fearful look on her face and
Examined the overturned tea cup.

She said, my son, don't grieve.
She said, my son, don't grieve.

For love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.
Love is written for you,
My son.

My son, you will die a martyr.
My son, you will die a martyr.
My son, you will die a martyr.

But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.

My son, you will die a martyr.
My son, you will die a martyr.
My son, you will die a martyr.

But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.
But death is worth it for the one you love.

My son, my son!

(Music Interlude)

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never read
A cup that resembles your cup.

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never witnessed
Grief that resembles your grief.

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never read
A cup that resembles your cup.

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never witnessed
Grief that resembles your grief.

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never read
A cup that resembles your cup.

I interpreted it.
I interpreted it but thought it was a mistake.
Because I never witnessed
Grief that resembles your grief.

You're doomed to never settle
In the ocean of love, constantly changing paths.
And your life, all your life.
Your whole life will be a story of tears.

You're doomed to never settle
In the ocean of love, constantly changing paths.
And your life, all your life.
Your whole life will be a story of tears.

You're doomed to never settle
In the ocean of love, constantly changing paths.
And your life, all your life.
Your whole life will be a story of tears.

You're doomed to always be imprisoned
Between water and fire.
You're doomed to always be imprisoned
Between water and fire.

You're doomed to always be imprisoned
Between water and fire.
You're doomed to always be imprisoned
Between water and fire.

Despite all that burns you.
And despite all that saddens you.
Despite all that burns you.
And despite all that saddens you.

And despite the grief that lives within you
Day and night
And despite the grief that lives within you
Day and night

And despite the wind.
And despite the rainy and stormy weather.

Love has left you, my son.
Love has left you, my son.
Love has left you, my son.
Love has left you, my son.

The greatest of things.
The greatest of things.

My son.

My son.
My son.

(Music Interlude 2)

I swear to you, my son, this woman
Her eyes are beyond belief.
I swear to you, my son, this woman
Her eyes are beyond belief.

I swear to you, my son, this woman
Her eyes are beyond belief.
I swear to you, my son, this woman
Her eyes are beyond belief.

Her face looks like a painting.
Her laugh is as beautiful as a song or roses.
Her face looks like a painting.
Her laugh is as beautiful as a song or roses.

And her wild and crazy hair,
Travels all around the world.

One day, this woman, my son,
The love of your heart,
Becomes your whole world.

And her wild and crazy hair,
Travels all around the world.
One day, this woman, my son,
The love of your heart,
Becomes your whole world.

I swear to you, my son, this woman
Her eyes are beyond belief.
Her face looks like a painting.
Her laugh is as beautiful as a song or roses.

And her wild and crazy hair,
Travels all around the world.
One day, this woman, my son,
The love of your heart,
Becomes your whole world.

But your sky becomes cloudy and torn.
And your path is blocked.
But your sky becomes cloudy and torn.
And your path is blocked.

But your sky becomes cloudy and torn.
And your path is blocked.

For the love of your heart, my son,
Sleeps in a large, gated castle.

He who enters its gates,
He who asks for her hand,
He who enters her cell.

He who tries to break her chains,
He who tries to break her chains.

My son, will cause her to vanish.
Vanish.
Vanish.
Vanish!

For the love of your heart, my son,
Sleeps in a large, gated castle.

He who enters its gates,
He who asks for her hand,
He who enters her cell.

He who tries to break her chains,
He who tries to break her chains.

My son, will cause her to vanish.
Vanish.
Vanish.
Vanish!

My son, my son.

(Music Interlude 3)

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

And you'll travel ocean after ocean.
And your tears will flow like rivers.
And you'll travel ocean after ocean.
And your tears will flow like rivers.

And your grief will grow.
So great as to resemble trees.

(Music Interlude 4)

(Music Interlude 5)

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

You will try to search for her, my son
Everywhere.
And you will try to ask the waves of the sea
And everyone you meet about her.

And you'll travel ocean after ocean.
And your tears will flow like rivers.
And you'll travel ocean after ocean.
And your tears will flow like rivers.

And your grief will grow.
So great as to resemble trees.

(Music Interlude 6)

And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.
And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.

And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.
And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.

And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.
And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.

And you will return one day, my son,
Defeated, broken and wounded.
And you will realize after your life is lost,
That you where running after an illusion.

Because the love of your life,
Has neither a land,
Nor country, nor address.

Because the love of your life,
Has neither a land,
Nor country, nor address.

Because the love of your life,
Has neither a land,
Nor country, nor address.

It's impossible to love a woman,
My son, who has no home.
It's impossible to love a woman,
My son, who has no home.
It's impossible to love a woman,
My son, who has no home.

Who has no home.
Who has no home.
No home.
No home.

It's impossible to love a woman,
My son, who has no home.
It's impossible to love a woman,
My son, who has no home.

Who has no home.
Who has no home.
No home.
No home.

My son,
My son!

hmm..i so dont understand this..i'm sorry..but i figured since i read it, i might as well leave my mark of question upon it..maybe i'll get an explanation i can understand!

it does seem more like a song..(i noticed the "musical interlude"....)  maybe the repitition would make more sense to me that way..

i think i'll look for something else written by you--cause this one went right over my head...!

hehe well dg, this is probably real hard to understand cause it's translated in a bad way....I'll try to fix it soon so you can see how it should look like right now....and post it again in a diff form...

Salma, this was breath-taking.  And guess what?  I UNDERSTOOD it ALL!!!

Though I do not know the native language of this song, I do recognize the lyrical style.  It sings more like a dirge or lament, with the repetition of lines to emphasize the next step in the journey, kinda like, but not identical, to the sestina.

I can also see some of the similarity you spoke of in reference to Mystic Woman.  Thank you so very much for not only finding the song you mentioned, but for posting it as well...not to mention the email letting me know which forum it was located.  Thank you again, my friend.

Alicat-
I'm glad you liked it, the guy that sung this is a well known legand in Egyptian Art (Abdel Halim Hafz) and most of his songs are in this style with this sort of deep meaning, I love them all! If you'd like to read more of his lyrics you can at: http://www.romanysaad.com/abdelhalimhafez/index.html and click on lyrics where it'll give you a list of english lyrics, this one is called Kariat El Fingan. At that same site they have midis and music sheets so it's pretty nice....if you'd like to hear the song itself letme know...I think I can get it online

Good luck,
