The room was smoky and dank
Candles rose rank against rank
Passed I through a beaded door
Seeking the future, nothing more

There at the table the Gypsy sat
Arms in bangles, hair in a nap
With beringed finger she beckoned me near
"Come yet more closer, my little dear."

Then she fell silent and picked up the Deck
Shuffling and rifling: fleck flick fleck
Ten cards were placed on the table 'fore me
Then turning each one that I might see

"A dark mystic woman will seal your fate
And change your life with malice and hate
The Tower does fall on all who come near
And here we see Death...do you the Reaper fear?"

I never heard him come down the hall
Saw not the arm raised, nor the blackjack's fall
So rapt was I in that Tarot spread
I never felt the blood on my head

When I awoke, oh! how clear I could see
And there on the ground, I saw...me
Each dark face bore a wiley smile
All my possessions in a pile

I looked around at a room full of haints
At a room full of sinners and saints
Like me, they were all born of strife
By a mystic woman who changed each life

As I sit here dimly thinking
Watching modem lights a-blinking
Churning out poetic hash.
Lord, in all Your piety,
Help me keep my sanity:
Please don't let the modem crash!  --Alicat

Serenity, yes I surely do!  Glad you like the poem.  For some reason, I've drawn the Fool more often than not:  The Dreamer/Wanderer.

Salooma...really?  Would you be so kind as to post that song, or could you send it via email?  This one just kinda wrote itself while I was waiting for a store to open today.  Thanks for the read.
